Why I Created
Heart Check

What began with addiction recovery grew into something for every Christian.

I originally set out to create a more mobile-friendly version of the FASTER addiction recovery assessment. But as people tried it, they began asking, ā€œCould this help with more than addiction? Could it address other issues of the heart?ā€ That question opened up a much broader vision.

You don’t have to struggle with addiction to experience anxiety, resentment, exhaustion, avoidance, or disconnection from God and others. I wanted to create a tool that could help Christians recognize what they are carrying, bring it honestly before God, and find words to share it with someone they trust.

Heart Check grew from that desire. It offers personal reflection and practical guidance while also helping trusted friends support one another through meaningful conversations. I wanted that first step to be accessible, which is why Heart Check is currently free.

How I Begin My Day
with God

I begin with Heart Check to become aware of what I’m carrying and bring my heart before God. Then I read Scripture, journal with gratitude, and close with worship or prayerful surrender. You can adapt this rhythm to your own morning.

Four-step morning devotional routine - Simplified.png

Heart Check: 10–15 minutes
Read Scripture: 15–30 minutes
Journal: 15–30 minutes
Close with one worship song or 5–10 minutes in the Pause app.

The Pause app is a separate resource from John Eldredge’s Wild at Heart ministry.
